Counseling Services

Individual Counseling
Counselors see individuals for a
variety of personal problems. Depression, anxiety, grief, anger, stressful
life situations, and many other concerns may call for counseling.
Counselors help individuals find ways to cope with their problems, and they
may refer to the Center's consulting psychiatrist for evaluation and
medication.
Marriage and Relationship
Counseling
Counselors see couples experiencing
difficulty in their marriages. Premarital couples, dating couples, and
family members sharing the same home may desire help with their
relationships from time to time. Counselors assist couples in working out
their problems and learning better relational skills.
Counseling with Children and
Families
Children may experience school or
learning problems, behavioral difficulty, depression, anxiety, abuse, or a
variety of problems. Counselors work with parents and children to address
such problems. Families, too, may experience problems and seek professional
counseling to work them out.

Specialized Services
Managed Care
Health management organizations
often require specific treatment plans. When counseling is provided under
the authorization of a managed care plan, the guidelines and policies of the
plan are discussed, clarified, and adhered to by the counselor and the
client.
Employee Assistance Programs
Employee Assistance Programs
contract with the Fayetteville Family Life Center to assess problems,
provide very brief treatment, or refer to a different counselor for more
extensive counseling. The process and limitations of the plan are explained
to the client and followed by the counselor when EAP plans are used.
Psychological Testing and
Assessment
When psychological testing or
assessment is requested, qualified Fayetteville Family Life Center
psychologists conduct testing or assessment and report the results. Costs
for testing services are not supplemented.
Child Custody Evaluations
Child custody evaluations are
highly specialized services requiring advanced training both in
psychological evaluation and legal proceedings. The court generally orders
them. Fees for child custody evaluations are not supplemented.
Critical Incident Stress
Debriefings
When a traumatic event occurs in a
public setting, counseling services may be utilized to prevent subsequent
trauma by those involved. Fayetteville Family Life Center counselors
trained to conduct such debriefings are available to organizations in need
of their services. Fees are negotiated with the organization hiring the
staff to provide the services.
Contracted Services
Some organizations contract with
the Fayetteville Family Life Center to provide needed services within their
organization. They include consultation, supervision, psychological
testing, parent education, and the like. Fees for contracted services are
negotiated between the Center and the contracting organization. |
